The Rovaniemi region as a tourist destination is spectacular in all seasons, as its nature provides a wonderful setting for various activities throughout the year. The snowy winters of the north attract tourists on skiing holidays and many also visit Santa Claus Village. By the apartment, there is a cross-country ski run around Salmijärvi, which is open to everyone and is a nice 7 km long route. Most people also have a secret dream of seeing a glimpse of the northern lights, and what could be a more wonderful experience than staring at the sky in their own peace from the sauna benches and wondering at this free light show offered by the Creator? Although winter is definitely the best time of year in the region, the peace of Lapland also invites tourists at other times too. In winter, the atmospheric kaamos turns into a nightless night in the summer, when the rugged landscapes of Lapland provide a unique setting for hiking, kayaking or even mountain biking. Of course, the summer activities definitely include fishing, but the more ferocious will find the heartbeat they need from for example rafting. The splendor of autumn colors and autumn trips also leave a memorable experience.

Rovaniemi is full of tourist producers and you can combine your holiday with a visit to a reindeer farm, a husky safari, an excursion on an ATV or a snowmobile. Rovaniemi is a nice-sized city where tourists are pampered with a better level of service. There are many restaurants in the city, you could say, for every taste. They are often quite boldly executed and more exotic than elsewhere in Finland.
