During the visit, you will be introduced to the craft of reindeer antler carving, as your hosts are specialised in handicrafts using local natural materials. Your self-prepared piece of art you may, of course, take home as a keepsake! Afterwards you taste and learn that Finnish wellbeing comes from the nature – local snack with blueberry juice will complete the local experience.

Experience the wild Arctic in Ranua Zoo and get familiar with the fauna of Finnish Lapland! At the Ranua Wildlife Park you meet the endangered arctic species like the polar bear, the arctic fox, the snowy owl and the musk ox, greatly threatened by climate change. Learn how those species are protected and also how injured animals are nursed and cared and let back in to the nature! Ranua Wildlife Park is a Zoo but is also committed to protecting endangered animal species and helping encourage people to be part of protection programs. Get inspired by Arctic lifestyle on a riverboat cruise and meet the reindeer on a farm visit Travel through serene landscapes in a riverboat and experience the summer of the Arctic Circle. Continuing the journey, the boat will take you to the reindeer farm located by the river Ounasjoki. At the farm, you will become familiar with reindeer herding and take part in a ceremonial crossing of the Arctic Circle. Starting out on a catamaran boat that takes you to your first destination by the river Ounasjoki. Continuing the journey, the boat will take you to the reindeer farm located by the river Ounasjoki. Take the huskies for an afternoon walk and get friends with the furry sled dogs Hiking with the huskies is another great way to get to know Lappish nature and these enthusiastic Arctic animals. On arrival at the husky kennel you will be welcomed by eager, but friendly, barking as these dogs are keen to get going! Your guide will share his knowledge of the life of the sled dogs and give instructions on how to handle them. You will get to know your dog by name and the tricks he or she is capable of. The hike itself is on easy terrain, and you will be spotting various Arctic shrubs, berries, birds and perhaps even animals inhabiting the forests. After the hike it’s time to take the furry friends back to their home before rewarding yourself with some snacks and drinks around the campfire.

The route takes you from city streets to forest trails, keeping you thrilled but safe. Reaching a forest lake, a place ideal for fishing is found, where you can try your luck with traditional fishing rods. Coffee and snacks will be prepared in the flames of the campfire. Let’s hope the fish are eager to bite, and perhaps your break is accompanied with the fresh catch of the day. Quad bikes provide you an entirely different way of manoeuvring in the forest and roads. These tractor-like quads are easy to control and equipped with steering wheel, proper seat, seat belt, rolling gage and power steering, making them behave like cars.

Join us for an afternoon sightseeing cruise to Rovaniemi riverside and soak in to the tales of old times Rivers are the most important transport routes of all times and as Rovaniemi is located at the crossing of two large rivers, it has adopted the role of the gateway to Lapland. Rovaniemi was a legendary lumberjack town, and the Ounasjoki and Kemijoki rivers were used as floating channels for the log industry from the late 1800 century until end of 1980. You will visit the Kotisaari Island which was a traditional stronghold of the Lumberjacks in Kemijoki, and only with us can you enter this idyllic island. During the cruise, you will pass by the urban city life and the green riverbanks as well as the most iconic places to enjoy the best possible views! Herbal tea and traditional tea bread will be served during the cruise.
